Wrinkle Reduction
Botox
What is Botox Botox injections are noted primarily for the ability to reduce the appearance of facial wrinkles. They're also used to treat conditions such as neck spasms (cervical dystonia), excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis), an overactive bladder and lazy eye. Botox injections may also help prevent chronic migraines. Botox injections use a toxin called onobotulinumtoxinA to temporarily prevent a muscle from moving. This toxin is produced by the microbe that causes botulism, a type of food poisoning. Botox was the first drug to use botulinum toxin. Other products now include abobotulinumtoxinA (Dysport), rimabotulinumtoxinB (Myobloc) and incobotulinumtoxinA (Xeomin). Each is a little different, particularly when it comes to dosage units, so they aren't interchangeable. Why It's Done Botox injections block certain chemical signals from nerves, mostly signals that cause muscles to contract. The most common use of these injections is to temporarily relax the facial muscles that cause wrinkles in the forehead and around the eyes. Botox injections are also used to treat conditions that affect how the body functions. Examples include: Cervical dystonia. In this painful condition, your neck muscles contract involuntarily causing your head to twist or turn into an uncomfortable position. Lazy eye. The most common cause of lazy eye is an imbalance in the muscles responsible for positioning the eye. Muscle contractures. Some neurological conditions, such as cerebral palsy, can cause your limbs to pull in toward your center. In some cases, these contracted muscles can be relaxed with Botox injections. Hyperhidrosis. In this condition, excessive sweating occurs even when the temperature isn't hot and you're not exerting yourself. Chronic migraine. If you experience migraines more than 15 days a month, Botox injections may help reduce headache frequency. Bladder dysfunction. Botox injections can also help reduce urinary incontinence caused by an overactive bladder. Eye twitching. Botox injections may help relieve contracture or twitching of muscles around the eye.
Xeomin
Xeomin® is an injectable treatment that diminishes the appearance of facial wrinkles by relaxing wrinkle-causing muscles in the face. The Xeomin® formula contains a purified form of botulinum toxin, which blocks the nerve signals that cause the treated muscles to contract. When Xeomin® is injected into the forehead muscles, wrinkles are reduced producing a more youthful, rested appearance. Since Xeomin® contains no added ingredients, it may be a suitable treatment for patients who are no longer achieving their desired results from Botox® or Dysport® or prefer a product with no added preservatives.

LaseMD ULTRA
Cahaba Dermatology is excited to offer LaseMD skin resurfacing to help you reach your aesthetic goals. LaseMD uses non-ablative energy to gently heat tissue in the deeper layers of your skin while leaving the surface layer of skin intact. This creates microchannels in the skin that stimulate the body’s natural ability to produce collagen and elastin, the two proteins that play a key role in skin quality. As you age, collagen and elastin levels decrease, paving the way for fine lines, wrinkles, and sagging skin. LaseMD is capable of restoring your skin’s natural youthful appearance. A 20-minute full resurfacing treatment with LaseMD removes five years of aging to leave you with glowing, revitalized skin. This makes it the perfect addition to your skincare routine.
Genius RF Microneedling
With new sharper, sleeker, and smoother needles, the Genius™ microneedling device allows for more accurate needle insertion into the skin. Additionally, the system has a built-in feedback mechanism to ensure that the energies are being delivered to the skin appropriately and correctly. This treatment is ideal for tightening and firming the skin (jawlines, neck), wrinkles, and debilitating acne scars.
Jeuveau
Jeuveau, also known as #NEWTOX, is another purified form of botulinum toxin that has been shown to deliver temporary improvement in moderate to severe frown lines by blocking the signal from the nerve to the muscles, ultimately resulting in a reduction of muscle activity, temporarily preventing contraction of the muscles that cause frown lines and reducing the appearance of movement lines. Jeuveau is another excellent, non-surgical option that reduces the effects of aging and helps regain a more youthful appearance. At Cahaba Dermatology we are advocates of natural looking results. During a typical procedure, we evaluate which areas need to be treated based on your facial expressions and lines created. The area is cleaned and prepped with numbing cream if requested, and a small needle is then used at the injection sites. A visit typically lasts only 10 minutes long, and our patients easily tolerate the minor pinch sensation at the injection sites. Muscle control that creates your wrinkles begin to diminish in five to seven days, and full correction occurs in 14 days. There is no real downtime associated with a Jeuveau treatment, although you may see sleight redness at the injection site immediately after treatment that diminishes very quickly. The results of Jeuveau (or competitive neurotoxin brands such as Botox, Dysport, or Xeomin) can last anywhere from three to four months.
